2 people died and 21 were injured in a total of 74 traffic accidents throughout the country in the last week, police report.
According to information by the Police Press Office, 16 of the accidents that took place between 24-30 June resulted in injuries and 56 resulted in damages. The cost of damages were reported at 4 million 941 thousand 155 TL.
22 of the traffic accidents took place due to speeding, 17 due to careless driving, 14 due to not stopping at the junctions, 9 due to driving too close and 12 for other reasons.
26 of the accidents took place in Girne (Kyrenia) , 22 in Lefkoşa (Nicosia) , 16 in Gazimağusa (Famagusta), 5 in İskele (Trikomo) and 5 in Güzelyurt (Morphou).
During the same period, 2 thousand 996 traffic violations were reported during routine traffic controls throughout the country. A total of 363 vehicles were banned from traffic and 13 drivers were arrested.

“Speeding (1071), speeding detected with a mobile vehicle (262), dangerous driving (23), careless driving (50), driving without a road tax (300), driving without a driving license (23), driving under the Influence of alcohol, using a mobile phone while driving (238), driving without a seat belt (134), violation of traffic signs (120), violation of traffic lights (7), driving without an MOT (65), Uninsured or Out of Coverage Driving a Vehicle (83), Transporting passengers “T” Business using a vehicle without a permit (13), Transporting private goods “B” business driving a vehicle without permission (20), driving motorcycle without a helmet (21), violation of light rules or driving with insufficient Light (22) and 718 other traffic crimes violations.
