A 25-year-old cyclist has died after he was struck by a car yesterday night in Lefkoşa (Nicosia). A police statement said that, Hüseyin BAL (M-25), driver of MP 486 registered vehicle, who was driving along Osman Örek Street in Lefkoşa (Nicosia), hit cyclist Gabriel Shimata KASONGO (M-25), who was heading in the same direction. Hüseyin Bal who was under the influence of alcohol and without a driving license, hit the cyclist while changing lanes near the Citroen traffic lights. Cyclist Gabriel Shimata KASONGO, who was rushed to the Lefkoşa Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital, could not be saved despite all efforts. Driver Hüseyin Bal has been arrested and an investigation is ongoing.
