A 36-year-old man, apprehended during a coordinated operation by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) last Saturday, remains in custody. The YKAN Echelon in Limassol continues its investigations.

The YKAN operation was conducted on Saturday afternoon following the collection and evaluation of information aimed at combating drug trafficking. Around 5:00 p.m., YKAN members stopped a car driven by the 36-year-old suspect on a street in Limassol for inspection. During the search, two nylon packages containing cannabis, totaling six grams, were found on the suspect. Additionally, two more nylon packages containing two kilograms of cannabis and €12,400 in cash were discovered. The 36-year-old was arrested for these spontaneous offenses.

Further investigation led to a search of an apartment in Limassol, the keys to which were found on the 36-year-old. Six travel suitcases containing 38 kilograms of cannabis were seized from the apartment. Also found were half a gram of cocaine and two grams of cannabis. Inside a closet, two usable pistols, 14 pistol cartridges, and two cardboard boxes containing 2,000 9mm cartridges were confiscated.

Over 40 kilograms of cannabis, along with two pistols and many cartridges, were found and seized in Limassol.

An arrest warrant was issued for the 36-year-old, who was subsequently detained. He appeared before the Limassol District Court on Sunday morning, and an eight-day detention order was granted to facilitate the investigation.

Evidence also implicated the 32-year-old woman in the case. A judicial arrest warrant was issued, and she was taken into custody around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday for further police examination.
