39 people have died in traffic accidents in 2023


 

The majority of traffic accidents resulting in death in North Cyprus are caused by speed driving and drink driving, it has been reported.

According to Diyalog news, 39 people have lost their lives in traffic accidents that took place in North Cyprus since the beginning of 2023.

This figure was recorded as 30 in 2019, 27 in 2020, 34 in 2021 and 24 in 2022.

13 deaths were caused due to speeding, 11 from drink driving, 4 were from not being abla to stop at intersection roads, 4 from careless driving, 3 from crossing over to opposite lanes, and 1 was from improper turns.

Those who died in traffic accidents, 12 were drivers, 10 pedestrians, 10 passengers, 5 motorcyclists and 2 cyclists.
