A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck off the coast of Crete early Wednesday, sending tremors across Cyprus, southwestern Turkey, parts of Egypt, and even as far as Israel.
The quake occurred at a depth of 64.4 kilometers, with its epicenter located approximately 19 kilometers south of Kasos Island, according to seismological data.
While the tremor was widely felt, there were no immediate reports of injuries or serious property damage.
As a precaution, Greece’s emergency services issued a tsunami warning through the 112 alert system, urging residents in coastal areas to move inland. Authorities continue to monitor the situation.
