70 Cypriot Students Stranded in Switzerland due to severe weather and landslides

Seventy Cypriot students, along with their chaperones, are stranded in a hotel in Switzerland due to landslides caused by severe weather affecting the country.

According to the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Theodoros Gotsis, who spoke to RIK, the students are safe. However, the landslide has blocked major roads, making their transportation impossible at this time.

Due to the severe weather, there has also been a temporary power outage in the area where the students and their chaperones are staying.

Mr. Gotsis stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus is in continuous contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, as well as with the Cypriot embassy in Rome.

As a result of the landslides in the southeastern part of Switzerland, two people have lost their lives and a third person is missing.
