A 79-year-old died in a traffic accident that took place on the Girne (Kyrenia) – Alsancak (Karavas) beltway, this morning.
The police statement is as follows:
“Mehmet GÜRTUNÇ (E-79), driver of MK 606 registered vehicle, who was driving south along Şht Orhan Durusoy Street at the Eziç crossroad traffic lights on the Girne (Kyrenia) – Alsancak (Karavas) ring road at around 7:10 a.m this morning and who tried to cross over to Bahar Street at a red light, collided with 21-year-old Yusuf TEMEL, driver of UP 025 registered vehicle who was heading fast towards Alsancak (Karavas) on the Girne (Kyrenia) – Alsancak (Karavas) beltway.
Mehmet GÜRTUNÇ (M-79), driver MK 606 registered vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Yusuf TEMEL, driver of UP 025 registered vehicle who was injured following the accident was taken to Girne (Kyrenia) Dr. Akçiçek Hospital.
An investigation is ongoing.”
