Ace Frehley and Peter Frampton bassist John Regan passes away at 71

Beloved rock legend and bassist John Regan, known for his work with Ace Frehley and Peter Frampton, passed away suddenly at the age of 71. His wife, Cathy Merring-Regan, confirmed the news on Facebook in a post shared by a family friend. Regan’s illustrious career spanned decades, leaving an indelible mark on the music industry and leaving fans heartbroken at his untimely passing.

John Regan was a talented and versatile bassist who played with numerous iconic musicians. He was a member of Ace Frehley’s band, Frehley’s Comet, from 1984 to 1990 and performed and recorded with Peter Frampton from 1979 to 2010.

Over the years, he also collaborated with artists such as David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Billy Idol, and David Lee Roth. Regan was celebrated for his skill, humor, and generosity, making him a cherished friend and colleague to many in the music world, not to forget a loving husband.

Cathy Merring-Regan’s heartfelt Facebook post read:

“It is with the greatest sorrow and sadness that I let you all know John passed away this afternoon. ‘All that you can take with you is that which you’ve given away.’ From reading your messages, I know he gave much away, and so much love was sent to him. He passed suddenly, but that was his wish. I had heard him over the past few weeks having lengthy conversations with many of you, and you brought such joy to him. Thank you all for your heartfelt messages.”

In addition to Regan’s wife, in a touching tribute, Peter also took to Twitter to express his sorrow, calling Regan one of his ‘closest buddies’ who ‘enriched’ his life. Frampton’s message highlighted Regan’s selflessness, humor, and talent, sending condolences to his family and acknowledging the profound loss felt by all who knew him.

As fans and fellow musicians mourn the loss of John Regan, his enduring contributions to the world of music will be remembered. His talent, warmth, and spirit will continue to inspire future generations, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
