North Cyprus Foreign Ministry says GC leader’s remarks “hypocrisy”

North Cyprus Foreign Ministry said remarks by the Greek Cypriot leader, who said the talks should resume from the point where they left off in Crans-Montana, is “just hypocrisy”.

Christodoulides was a key architect of the collapse of Crans-Montana talks”, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday following statements made on the Cyprus issue by Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides during a mass in South Cyprus.

“As previous Greek Cypriot leaders, he is trying to cover up the truth,” it added.

The statement noted: “The remarks by Christodoulides, who put every effort into failing an important process, the Crans-Montana talks, has no significance”.

The statement continued:

“The remarks by the Greek Cypriot leader, a key architect of the collapse of Crans-Montana talks, in which he said talks should resume from the point they left off in Crans-Montana is just hypocrisy.”

“The Turkish Cypriot side has a new vision based on reaffirmation of the sovereign equality of the TRNC after the failure of the latest talks process aiming to find a federal solution. The Greek Cypriot leader should tell his people the truth that the TRNC’s new policy, supported by the Republic of Türkiye, will not change.”
