UN Secretary General’s personal envoy to Cyprus, Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar assured that she will make every effort to give impetus to the process of negotiations to resolve the Cyprus problem,
In statements after the conclusion of the meeting with Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides, Mrs. Cuellar said that today is the first day of her contacts in Cyprus, after her appointment as Antonio Guterres’ personal envoy for the Cyprus issue, in an effort to find common ground for resumption of the negotiation process.
She also expressed her excitement, since as she explained, she comes from a country where there have been conflicts for many years and she was part of the team that achieved the peace agreement.
“I think I can cooperate and do my best so that there is a good result for Cyprus,” she said.
She also noted that she is very satisfied with the efforts that have been made over the decades and will try to give the process another impetus.
She finally stated that “the less she says, the more she will be able to work.”
