The Lapta, Alsancak Çamlıbel Municipality is kickstarting the festival season with the Hisarköy Orchid Festival.

Hisarköy is one of the regions where orchids, which are among the most important endemic plants of Cyprus, are seen the most.

The Lapta Alsancak Çamlıbel Mayor Fırat Ataser spoke to the BRT newsroom regarding the details of the festival.

Ataser stated that their aim is to highlight and promote the characteristics, local produced products and culture of the villages in the region and transfer them to the future.

He also said that they hope to create an environment where both locals and tourists can embrace one another and create an area where they can socialize.

Stating that the festival season of 2024 will start with the Hisarköy Orchid Festival to be held this weekend (March 2-3), Ataser stated that they will cooperate with the citizens living in the villages and the associations operating in the festivals.

The festival will start with a walk to where the orchids are located, followed by an opening ceremony in the village square, poetry recitals, folk dance performances, dance and gymnastics shows, fashion shows and concerts.
