Nuclear energy protest will be held!

The Cyprus Anti-Nuclear Platform will be holding a protest and several events on the 37th anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy.
The danger of the nuclear power plant being built in Akkuyu will also be highlighted.
Events will be held at the Home for Cooperation opposite Ledra Palace on Wednesday, between 3 pm and 7 pm.
The platform drew attention to the danger of nuclear energy,
“What happened at Chernobyl and Fukushima yesterday may happen in Akkuyu tomorrow. The Nuclear Power Plant planned to be built at Akkuyu is just 90 km from the Girne (Kyrenia) coast”, the platform said in a statement.
Drawing attention to the ongoing effects of the Chernobyl disaster and Fukushima, the platform said “Nuclear energy is neither renewable nor clean”. The problems created by nuclear energy are no doubt much more than its claimed advantages. The use of nuclear energy is unnecessary, especially in the Mediterranean region, where renewable energy sources can be used safely by humanity, the platform said.
