Holguin to brief UNSG about her contacts on Cyprus

She will not stop “pushing” for dialogue until the last minute, the UN Secretary-General’s personal envoy on Cyprus, Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar, said on Monday after a meeting with Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Christodoulides, as she announced that her mission was coming to an end and that she would brief Antonio Guterres about her contacts, in the coming days.

Her statements outside the presidential palace came after a meeting with Christodoulides which began at 10:30am and lasted for around 50 minutes.
Holguín stated that in the following days, she will meet with the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, whom she will brief on the contacts she had with both sides on the island and with other interested parties.
She will record the outcomes of her contacts on the island with the citizens, parties, and leaderships.
She announced her intention to continue pushing for the resumption of talks.
“I will strive for this until the last day,” said the personal envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General.
“We continue to push for that. Dialogue is the only way to open roads and to open possibilities. The minimum the people deserve is a dialogue between the two parties.”
