Paphos Regional Tourism Board launches smart application about myth of Aphrodite


 

The Paphos Regional Board of Tourism (ETAP) has presented a smart application highlighting the myth of the Goddess Aphrodite using audio-visual media.
ETAP Director Nasos Hadjigeorgiou, said during a press conference that the application, which is up and running, was very user-friendly, while it covers the entire spectrum of the known and unknown aspects of the birth and life of Aphrodite.
Speaking on 4 June, Hadjigeorgiou noted that the application covers all seven sites related to the myth, and includes augmented reality options for four such sites, including Petra tou Romiou the birthplace of the Goddess in Palaipaphos, the Sacred Gardens of Aphrodite in Geroskipou and the Baths of Aphrodite.
He added that with the possibility provided by augmented reality technology, users can enjoy scenes from the life of the Goddess at the four sites through their smart device in a real environment.
For example, he said, they can watch the Goddess emerging from the waves at Petra tou Romiou, the processions, the events at the Sacred Gardens and Palaipaphos but also at the Baths of Aphrodite while she is bathing with Adonis.

ETAP President, Kyriakos Droushiotis, noted that the application offers users the possibility of choosing the language they prefer – Greek, English, French, German, Russian – audio tour, tour, rich video material, etc.
Users can also take a photo with the Goddess, while the information provided include Aphrodite’s relationship with Paphos, her various names, character, plants and shells associated with her, even nature trails.
