More than 150kg of garbage collected from beaches across Cyprus

Six clean-up campaigns on various beaches in Cyprus were carried out on World Oceans Day and World Environment Day on 5 June. Participants collected more than 150kg of garbage in less than an hour of cleaning each beach.
The campaigns were organised by the Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative (CSTI), in collaboration with hotels in Cyprus, in the framework of the Project “Keep our Sand and Sea Plastic Free”, with the aim of raising environmental awareness and protecting the natural resources of Cyprus.
In his statements, the President of CSTI, Philippos Droussiotis, expressed his satisfaction with the success of the campaigns, adding that the cooperation with the hotels of Cyprus demonstrates the association’s commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
The “Keep our Sand and Sea Plastic Free” project is an initiative of the TUI Care Foundation in collaboration with the Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative (CSTI) and is part of TUI Care’s Destination Zero Waste programme, promoting new ways to reduce and reuse waste that create jobs and promote the circular economy in Cyprus.
