Scuffle with officers at Meriç substation grounds “We will press charges against the police!”

The Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority Employees Union (El-Sen) went to the Meriç Substation to cut off the electricity of Ercan Airport, citing that Ercan Airport has an accumulated debt of 92 million TL.

Officers did not let El-Sen members, KIB-TEK employees in the substation. El-Sen workers and supporters of the union scuffled with officers straight after.

El-Sen President Ahmet Tuğcu announced that they will be pressing charges against the officers who prevented the law implementation. “On an unexpected night, will come here and cut off the electricity” Tuğcu was cited as saying.
