Cyprus donates €300,000 to CMP

Cyprus donated €300,000 to the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP).

According to a press release from CMP, with this contribution, the Republic of Cyprus has given the CMP a total of €4,012,700 in financial support since 2005. It was decided to boost CMP’s excavation capacity when the leaders visited the CMP Anthropological Laboratory in July 2023.

So far, 1,047 missing persons from both Cypriot communities have been identified and returned to their families for dignified burials.

This new donation will support CMP’s work in 2024, including the strengthening of the
excavation teams. The funds will also contribute to the Committee’s goal of identifying and returning the remains of missing individuals, bringing to an end the uncertainty which has affected the families for so many years.
