MFA: ‘Initiatives to evacuate TRNC citizens in Sudan continue’

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that initiatives are being taken for the evacuation of TRNC citizens in Sudan, where violent conflicts are ongoing.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry statement is as follows:
“Fierce fighting has been taking place across Sudan since 15 April 2023 after tensions between the Sudanese Army and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary force began. The situation of one of our citizens in Sudan who came into contact with our Ministry is being closely followed since day one. From the very first moment, our Ministry contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye and the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Khartoum, providing information about the situation and location of our citizens, and the necessary steps to be taken to evacuate them from the area. We maintain contact with our citizens and the Undersecretary of our Ministry. Both our Ministry and Ankara Embassy continue to make every effort to ensure the safe evacuation of our citizens.”
