One arrested for trying to illegally smuggle 38 kg of meat across the border


 

An individual attempting to illegally smuggle 38 kilograms of meat across from the South to the North via the Metehan checkpoint in Lefkoşa at around 1 pm today was detected by police.
Following a police search, the 69-year-old individual was caught red-handed with the meat in the vehicle he was driving whilst attempting to smuggle it over to the North, the police said.
The person in question has been arrested and an investigation continues.
