Tatar met with Stewart

Turkish Cyptiot Leader Ersin Tatar on Tuesday received the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG), Colin Stewart.
Both discussed the Cyprus issue along with some other matters during the meeting.
Speaking to the press after his meeting with Stewart, Tatar stressed that: “It’s out of the question for us to resume the formal negotiations on the Cyprus issue without the recognition and reaffirmation of our sovereign equality and equal international status.”
“The UN is seeking to see if there is a possibility to resume the Cyprus negotiation process following the elections in Türkiye and Greece,” he said.
Referring to the EU’s more active involvement on the Cyprus problem, which was an issue reportedly discussed during Stewart’s meeting with Christodoulides, Tatar said: “I conveyed our position on the matter that we would not approve it. We have seen similar pressures in Geneva.”
