Cleaning, seasonal waste survey, and analysis studies are being carried out on Cyprus coasts.

Cleaning work is being carried out simultaneously under the scope of the Gazimağusa Walled City Association (MASDER) in North Cyprus AKTI in South Cyprus.

The Head of MASDER Serdar Atai, from time to time, shares work such as cleaning, waste separation, classification, counting, and registration carried out at beaches.

WORK INITIALLY BEGAN FROM THE ALAGADI-MEDITERRANEAN COASTS

Work initially began at the Alagadi-Mediterranean coast in North Cyprus. The density of plastic/micro lastic was found during the studies.

Cleaning and data collection activities continued between İskele-Boğaz Beach, Gazimağusa-Glapsides Beach, Yeniboğaziçi public beach, and Venus Beach. From time to time tourists also joined MASDER’s cleaning work.

Spring data collection was completed with a visit to Karpaz.

Studies were carried out at the Erenköy (Yalousa) public beach, Altınkum, Ayfilon, and Kumyalı.

During the studies attention was drawn to the concentration of waste pollution on the beaches.

WASTE SEPARATION AND REGISTRATION PROCESS HAVE BEGAN

Atai announced that waste sorting, classification, counting, and registration processes during the spring period of beach cleaning recently started with collecting waste from Yeni Boğaziçi and İskele.
