Iskele school lacks teachers for foreign students!

An increase has been reported in the number of foreign students in the İskele (Trikomo) Bekirpaşa High School.
Unfortunately, the school lacks sufficient professional teachers to teach Turkish to foreign students.
The Cyprus Turkish Secondary Education Teachers’ Union (KTOEÖS) held a warning strike yesterday at İskele Bekirpaşa High School, it has been reported.
The purpose of the strike was to raise awareness of the foreign student problem at the school, the absence of a principal and vice principal, and the problem of transition to full-day education.
Making a statement during the strike, the head of KTOEÖS Selma Eylem, criticized that no principal or vice principal transfer had been made to the school and that the number of foreign students, 200 last year, has increased with the latest new enrolments of 80 students.

“THERE ARE STUDENTS THAT LACK TURKISH LANGUAGE”

Eylem added that students not knowing Turkish were creating huge problems at the school. Turkish and literature teachers are finding it difficult to teach the Turkish language to foreign students. There is a need for skilled teachers to overcome the problem.
