Authorities reported that a 15-year-old girl drowned while swimming in Larnaca Bay on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. local time. The Larnaca Coastal Patrol Service Department (CPSD) responded quickly to the distress call immediately mobilising rescue units.
A speedboat from the Larnaca District Administration’s lifeboat unit, a vessel from the Port and Maritime Police, an ambulance from the Larnaca Ambulance Service, and a foot patrol from the Larnaca Police Department all responded to the site.
Rescue boat teams found the unresponsive girl in the water and transffered her to Larnaca General Hospital, where she was declared dead.
