Agios Fanourious cave covered with garbage


 

Agios Fanourious cave and chapel in Karaoğlanoğlu (Ay Yorgi), has been left covered in garbage.

Litter was scattered inside and outside of the cave and chapel. The scene of the cave and chapel led to angry reactions from the people who visited.

Bottles were scattered on the staircase of the cave. Especially Greeks who are originally from Girne (Kyrenia) visit for rituals at certain periods.

Those who visited the cave and the chapel called on individuals to show respect to the holly place and called authorities to carry out their responsibilities.
