Anastasiades testifies before Anti-Corruption Authority

Former Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades appeared at the offices of the Independent Authority Against Corruption on Monday morning to provide testimony related to the Authority’s investigation into allegations raised in Makarios Drousiotis’ book Mafia State.

Anastasiades, who recently published his own book The Slanderer to counter the claims made by Drousiotis, was accompanied by his lawyer, Achilleas Emilianides. Arriving in good spirits, Anastasiades is scheduled to continue giving testimony on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Following the conclusion of Anastasiades’ testimony, it is expected that Drousiotis will be called again by the Authority. He will be asked both to clarify the allegations made against him in Anastasiades’ book and to confirm the authenticity of various documents referenced in The Slanderer, which include notes and studies he is alleged to have prepared while working at the Presidential Palace.
