Çukurova University Faculty of Agriculture Lecturer İmrak informed producers that the use of artificial intelligence technologies in North Cyprus can increase productivity in agriculture.
Drought-resistant plants and technology…
İmrak said, “Choosing drought-resistant plants is important to save money, but it is necessary to switch to using technologies that can measure the water rate in the soil, calculate and deliver the water the plant needs, according to the plant’s water needs. Many countries such as Spain, Italy and Israel use these artificial intelligence-supported systems in agriculture. The system calculates how much water is in the soil and how much water needs to be given.”
He noted that producers can use their mobile phones to control the system by receiving warning notifications on when to start or stop the irrigation process.
İmrak added it is also important to improve the soil structure with organics to increase the water retention capacity of the soil.
