The Environmental Protection Agency has increased inspections at special environmental protection zones and on beaches where turtles lay eggs.
According to a statement by the Environmental Protection Department under the Deputy Prime Ministry, Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, those violating activities that prevent Caretta Caretta specie turtles from laying eggs will be fined.
It reports that caravans, tents and similar temporary structures can be on the beaches between 8 am and 8 pm. The public is prohibited from being on the beaches during the specified hours, during turtle hatching.
The penalty for deliberately killing, capturing or damaging wild animals determined to be under protection in any way, including their habitats, is up to twice the monthly minimum wage, and it was noted that people who do not comply with the law can be reported to the Environmental Protection Agency “Alo 123” hotline.
