Nicosia will host a bi-communal cleaning event as part of the global “World Cleanup Day” initiative on Friday, September 20. The event, organized under the “Let’s Do It” project, aims to bring together volunteers from both communities in Cyprus for a common cause.
The cleanup operation will focus on the historic walled city of Nicosia. Participants will gather at two meeting points: Büyük Han in the north and Phaneromeni Church in the south, at 5:30 PM. From there, volunteers will spend an hour cleaning a route that covers 11 bastions along the city walls.
Sponsored by the US Embassy and jointly organized by the Green Peace Movement and Let’s Do It Cyprus, the event will commence at 6 PM. Both groups will conclude their routes at the Home for Cooperation in the buffer zone at 7 PM.
As an incentive, participants will receive an international Let’s Do It! World certificate. Refreshments will also be provided after the cleanup effort.
