Bi-Communal Youth Work Group holds first meeting to strengthen youth dialogue in Cyprus


 

The Bi-Communal Youth Work Group, launched by the Independent Youth Association (BAGEP), has convened for its inaugural meeting with the goal of fostering greater youth involvement in bi-communal issues across Cyprus.

According to a statement from BAGEP, the initiative seeks to amplify the collective voice of Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot youth, enhance intercommunal dialogue, and contribute to peacebuilding efforts by offering constructive proposals to the newly established Youth Technical Committee.

“Our aim is to ensure that young people from all backgrounds actively participate in decision-making processes,” the statement read. “By submitting recommendations and closely monitoring the work of both the Bi-Communal Youth Work Group and the Youth Technical Committee, we hope to strengthen civil society’s role and encourage broader representation.”

The Work Group includes young activists, volunteers, and representatives from various youth organizations and associations.
