Bribery allegations in Ministry of Tourism

The People’s Party leader (HP) Kudret Özersay, said that a complaint had been filed to the police yesterday, regarding another bribery allegation that was leaked to the press and that an investigation has been launched.

Özersay has made allegations against the Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment and the leader of the Democrat Party (DP) Fikri Ataoğlu, of being involved in bribes. Özersay said that there were two separate police investigations against the Ministry of Tourism and claimed that a bank manager was also arrested by the police.

A statement on Özersay’s social media account said: “Yesterday, we were called to the police to give a statement regarding this issue. The police have launched another investigation following a complaint filed to the police two weeks ago regarding bribery allegations that were leaked to the press. Isn’t this a coincidence? Another bribery allegation and the Ministry of Tourism is involved in it again…In the past, gossip used to go around then people forgot about it. But now these issues are being investigated and taken to court. We will not allow the investigation processes to be forgotten!”

Pointing out that in the last two months, bribery allegations have come forth within the senior executives of Ministries and institutions like YÖDAK that were thought to be trustworthy, Özersay said that investigations, arrests, and lawsuits have taken place. He also said “Where there is smoke there is fire” adding that they will continue to fight against corruption with determination.
