YÖDAK President Prof. Turgay Avcı and YÖDAK Former Vice President Prof. Mehmet Hasgüler, who were arrested following an investigation into the Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University, on charges of “receiving rewards in return for favors, misconduct in office, and laundering the proceeds of crime”, have been released with a surety bond of 1 million TL each for two bailsmen, a 50 thousand TL of pecuniary guarantee, and an international travel ban and police check every week.
According to the police, the university paid Turgay Avcı a total of 10,000 dollars and Mehmet Hasgüler 8,000 dollars for YÖDAK to speed the procedure of approval of the medical faculty to be opened by KSTU.
Speaking to the press following the court, YÖDAK President Turgay Avcı said, “We are happy with our heads high up.”
Meanwhile, Prof. Mehmet Hasgüler, emphasized that he rejected all allegations filed against him and said, “Those who are trying to mess with us will pay the price!”
