Turkish Cypriot athlete Buse Savaşkan, who represented Türkiye at the 2024 Paris Olympics, secured her place in the updated World standings to compete in the Women’s High Jump tournament after achieving a degree of 1.92 height.
25-year-old Turkish Cypriot Buse Savaşkan, who has never experienced the Olympic excitement before, competed in the Women’s High Jump Tournament, which took place on the seventh day of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The eliminations for finals took place in two groups, A and B. The “best” 13 athletes climbed the women’s high jump world rankings
Competing in group B, Buse Savaşkan achieved a leap of 1.83 then 1.88 in the first tournament. She then outperformed her competitors securing the championship with a high jump of 1.92 metres. Buse was not able to clear a height of 1.97 metres but qualified for the Paris Olympics by surpassing the entry standard.
Buse will be competing on Sunday, August 4, at 8.55 PM for the final Women’s High Jump tournament.
Born in Cyprus on February 24, 1999, Buse Savaşkan started her international athletics career at the European Junior Athletics Championships held in Tbilisi, Georgia in 2016.
Buse Savaşkan, who has been successful in many national and international tournaments, represented Türkiye in the Women’s High Jump Games at the Paris Olympics.
