According to the date set by the Supreme Election Board (YSK) for North Cyprus by-elections to be held on 25 June 2023, those competing for the parliamentary and Local Administration will put forward their applications on Wednesday.
Candidates from parties will be submitting their applications to the Supreme Election Board (YSK), and independent candidates to the district election board within office hours. By-elections will be taking place for the deputy position vacated in parliament.
According to the announcement, the National Unity Party (UBP) has put forward Ali Başman, the Democratic Party (DP) Serhan Aktunç, and Rebirth Party (YDP) Figen Yaman Lesinger from the ruling coalition government and from the main opposition parties, the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) announced Sami Özuslu.
Meanwhile, the Social Democratic Party (TDP) which currently holds no seat in parliament announced Tacan Reynar and the Independence Movement announced Umut Ersoy, while Abdullah Korkmazhan, Meriç Erülkü, Çetin Sadeli and Talip Sancar will be competing as independent candidates.
ELECTION PROPAGANDA WILL BEGIN ON JUNE 5
The name-drawing process will be held at the Supreme Election Board on 5 June to determine the order that political parties and independent candidates will be listed throughout the election process.
Election propaganda will begin on June 5th.
The last day for election opinion polls and surveys will be June 10.
