The building constructed for disabled people in North Cyprus has turned into ruins due to the fact that the state did not appoint the staff of 70 personnel required.
The project of the ‘Engelsiz Yaşam Evi’, an inpatient rehabilitation centre for disabled over the age of 18, by the Engelsiz Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği, an association that supports life with no barriers, was built in Minareliköy with donations.
Despite the completion of the first and second phases of the project, the building remained idle as a staff of 70 personnel could not be appointed.
ITEMS STOLEN
The floor and doors of the building are covered in pigeon droppings. Infrastructure materials consisting of steel and copper cables at the building have been stolen. The building which has no water and electricity is surrounded by weeds.
The value of the stolen materials from the building, which was built with millions of dollars, is thought to be worth 200 thousand dollars. Since the broken doors have still not been repaired, the building has also become a habitat for various animals.
KANER REBELS
All these negativities have made the sponsor and head of the association Güliz Kaner, react. Güliz Kaner said that the building remained idle just because 2 million TL per month could not be allocated from the government budget.
