Christodoulides dismisses reports of crisis in Cyprus–Greece relations

Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides has rejected reports suggesting a rift between the Greek and Greek Cypriot governments, emphasizing that relations remain strong.

Speaking to reporters upon his arrival at the “Maritime Cyprus 2025” International Conference in Limassol on Monday, Christodoulides said that those who “invest in a rupture” between Nicosia and Athens “will be disappointed.”

His comments came in response to media reports claiming a crisis had emerged between the two governments over issues related to the Greek Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO).
Christodoulides firmly denied any such tension, stating that “relations between my government and the Greek Government are stronger than ever before.”

Asked whether he had spoken with the Greek Prime Minister following a meeting held in Athens on the issue, Christodoulides said his previous remarks “already provide all the necessary answers.”
