Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides said he was going to a meeting with the Turkish Cypriot leader with the desire to have a positive result, expressing hope that Ersin Tatar will come with the same desire and that they can announce results that will be in the interest of the Cypriot people as a whole.
Speaking to the press before the opening ceremony of the Larnaca Municipal Gallery on Tuesday evening, while replying to a question about his meeting next Monday with Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, Christodoulides said that it was a meeting which he had requested from Tatar during the UN reception for the festive season to review the state of affairs with regard to crossing points.
“I hope there will be a positive outcome, I am going with a desire to have a positive outcome. I hope that Tatar will also come with the same desire and that we can announce results that will be in the interest of the Cypriot people as a whole,” he added on the matter.
Asked specifically whether the Pyroi crossing point is on the table, he said that he refrains from such references in public.
“Of course we have a planning, of course – I said it again – we have red lines, of course we know what we are seeking through the meeting, but if we are having a public dialogue, a public debate, what is the point of meeting? So, we are talking about serious issues, allow me to elaborate on our approaches and why these specific approaches during the meeting with Tatar,” he concluded.
