Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides said he will go to his meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar with the aim of achieving a positive outcome for both sides regarding the issue of opening more checkpoints.
He replied to journalists’ questions on the sidelines of a seminar by Hermes Airports in Nicosia.
Asked about the expectations of the Greek Cypriot side from the meeting given that Tatar insists only on the opening of a crossing point at Mia Milia ( Haspolat), he noted that “if we are truly interested in making progress, we should not be making public statements every day.”
He emphasised that he is going to the meeting to achieve a positive outcome for both sides, adding it is perfectly understandable for Tatar to have expectations, noting however that “there are expectations from our side as well.”
“I will go with the intention to find common ground and reach results that will satisfy all Cypriots” he said, adding that our side also has red lines, sensitivities, and many other things.
