Christodoulides to attend Pope Francis funeral


 

Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides, will attend Pope Francis’ funeral that will take place on Saturday morning at the Vatican.

According to a press release issued by the presidency, Christodoulides, who travelled on Friday evening from Montenegro to Rome, will arrive at St. Peter’s Square at 08.30 (local time) to join other heads of state and government officials at the funeral service that will take place at 1000 (local time).

He is accompanied by Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna, Cyprus Ambassador to the Vatican Giorgos Poullidis, Director of the President’s Diplomatic Office Doros Venezis, and Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou.
