Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides on Wednesday issued a stern warning to Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, stating that all individuals involved in the illegal seizure of Greek Cypriot properties in the North will face prosecution.
Speaking journalists arrival at the InBusiness Awards official dinner in Nicosia, Christodoulides responded to recent claims from Northern Cyprus alleging retaliatory motives behind recent convictions related to property misappropriation.
“We are applying the law. The executive branch does not interfere in judicial matters,” he stated, adding, “This is not about revenge. The message to Mr. Tatar and to all those illegally seizing Greek Cypriot property is clear: what they are doing is illegal and will be prosecuted.”
Christodoulides emphasized that property rights are individual rights and that decisions regarding such properties must rest solely with their rightful owners. “Nothing else,” he concluded.
