Cleaning and maintenance work begins at Girne International Cemetery


 

The Mayor of Girne (Kyrenia) Municipality Murat Şenkul announced that cleaning and maintenance work at the International Cemetery in Girne has begun.
Making a statement on his social media account, Şenkul also gave information about the work that had started at the cemetery.

The work to be carried out at the cemetery:
• Weed cleaning
• Tree pruning
• 4 flood lights to lighten up the area
• Installation of wire mesh fencing around the cemetery to make walls higher
• Secure the cemetery entrance gate
• Install new garbage bins along the road
• Repair graves that have cracks
• Install 1 new bench

“GRAVE PEDESTALS HAVE BEEN DAMAGED”
Şenkul said that around 50-100 grave pedestals are damaged, yet they are not responsible for doing the job as no such budget is available.

“THE BRITISH CEMETERY IS IN GOOD CONDITION”
Mayor Şenkul said that the British Cemetery is in good condition as British citizens are taking good care of their cemeteries.
He said relatives or those living abroad are not maintaining work at graves at foreign cemeteries.
