Commemoration held for Journalist Adem Yavuz who was killed in 1974


 

Martyr journalist Adem Yavuz, who was killed in 1974, was commemorated for the first time in Küçük Kaymaklı where he was attacked.
The martyrs relatives and officials of the Association of Families and War Veterans were also present at the ceremony that took place at the buffer zone under the control of the United Nations (UN).
The commemoration ceremony was held for Adem Yavuz and his colleague Ergin Konuksever who were killed by a volley of musketry in a vehicle on 14th August 1974. Hüseyin Kiracıoğulları, who was shot in another vehicle, was among those who attended the ceremony.
Wreaths were laid following a minute of silence in respect of those who lost their lives.
Turkish journalist Adem Yavuz was a war correspondent during the Cyprus Operation. Journalists Ergin Konuksever and Adem Yavuz were attacked on the first day of the second phase of the Cyprus Operation. Adem, who was injured following the attack later died.
