Larnaca International Airport is ready to serve as a transit point in case the evacuation of foreign citizens from Israel is decided, said on Monday Maria Kouroupi, Senior Manager Aviation Development, Marketing and Communication at Hermes Airports.
“At Larnaca airport both yesterday and today there were several emergency flights bound for Israel. In particular, today we expect 20 departures and 20 arrivals to the neighbouring country, of which 11 were scheduled in the last 24 hours,” Kouroupi told the Cyprus News Agency.
Meanwhile a Travel Advice was issued on Sunday, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus to avoid all non-essential travel to Israel, all travel to Gaza and all non-essential travel to the Nablus and Jenin region of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
At the same time, the Ministry, through the activated National Crisis Management Centre, provided continuous telephone support to Cypriot citizens in the country without any particular problems being reported.
