The police found Mwetaminwa lying on the pavement in front of the Başpınar Apartment on İğneci Street, in Hamitköy (Mandres), Lefkoşa (Nicosia) on September 7, 2024, at around 9 PM.

According to the police, Mwetaminwa stated that she had no money, no source of income, and no place to stay. She expressed a desire to return to her country and admitted that she was sleeping on the street.
