The opera titled “Saraydan Kız Kaçırma” (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) will be performed in Nicosia on Friday, 16 May. According to the State Opera and Ballet in North, the production, composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and depicting a story from the Ottoman Empire’s golden age, will be available for free viewing at 20:00 at the Near East University AKKM in Nicosia.
The performance is organised collaboratively by the State Opera and Ballet Coordination Centre, the Turkish State Opera and Ballet General Directorate, and the Presidential Symphony Orchestra. The opera will be conducted in two acts, with spoken parts in Turkish and musical sections in the original German language.
This event is part of the “Opera and Ballet Everywhere” theme initiated by the Turkish State Opera and Ballet during the Anadolu Opera and Ballet Festival. The production features Turkish and English surtitles, with additional support from the Gönyeli-Alayköy Municipality, and communication sponsorship from Telsim and Turkcell Northern Cyprus.
