Dikmen (Dikomo) residents are revolting against the sewage problem in the area.
Speaking to the GİRNE GAZETESİ, Dikmen (Dikomo) residents stated that the waste-water treatment facility, which has been serving the region for 20 years, is not sufficient enough against the increasing population.
According to the paper, the population is outpacing the current capacity of the waste-water treatment facility and that the facility is discharging dirty water into the environment.
Dikmen residents complained that they are not able to open windows at home, or even sit on their balconies or gardens due to the bad smell, and added that nothing is being done even though complaints have been filed so many times.
The dirty water is drying the trees and surrounding the green area in the region.
Residents demanded that precautions be taken against the environmental disaster as soon as possible.
