Dr. Meltem Onurkan Samani, General Coordinator of the Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Center, said Cyprus Workshop in Washington, served as a critical platform for dialogue, aiming to reignite efforts toward a sustainable resolution of the Cyprus conflict.

Describing the five-day event held in Washington, D.C., Dr. Onurkan Samani characterized it as one of the most comprehensive international discussions on the Cyprus problem in recent years.
She said that participants reviewed the decades-long conflict, concluding that a resolution is possible within a short timeframe, provided there is sufficient political will and a re-evaluation of negotiation methods.
The workshop emphasized the importance of raising awareness in both communities about the feasibility and urgency of a solution. Additionally, it called for the active involvement of civil society in peacebuilding and resolution efforts.
The event was organized by the Carter School at George Mason University in collaboration with the Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Center (CPDC) and the Future Worlds Center (FWC). Held at the Point of View facilities in Washington, D.C., it brought together 22 participants from both sides of the island.
Notable attendees from the north included Meltem Onurkan Samani, Özdil Nami, İpek Borman, Mustafa Besim, Ahmet Sözen, and social media influencer İbrahim Beycanlı (known as Urban Cypriot). Representing the south were newly elected Member of the European Parliament Panayiotou Fidias, Charis Psaltis, and Neophytos Loizides.
