A draft bill on Traffic Penalties, aimed at preventing the increase in traffic accidents, has been published in the Official Gazette.
According to the bill, a prison sentence for fatal traffic accidents that lead to death has been increased from seven years to 10 years.
Those who are caught driving under the influence of alcohol will be fined a penalty of 15 times the minimum wage, or 413 thousand 805 TL.
Drivers exceeding the 0.50 promil alcohol limit will be sentenced to one year in prison or receive a fine of 5 minimum wages, (137 thousand 935 TL), and will be confiscated from driving for three months.
Drivers exceeding the 100-150 promil alcohol limit will be sentenced to two years in prison or a fine of 10 minimum wages, (275 thousand 870 TL), and will also be confiscated from driving for three months
And, drivers caught with 150 promil alcohol limit will be sentenced to three years in prison or a fine of 15 minimum wages, (413 thousand 805 TL), and will be confiscated from driving for 6 months.
