A drunk driver that hit a donkey on the Lefkoşa (Nicosia) – Gazimağusa (Famagusta) main road has been arrested. Meanwhile, legal action has been taken against the owner of the donkey.
According to a police statement, E.Ö (M-31) who was heading towards Lefkoşa under the influence of 200 milligrams of alcohol hit a stray donkey that was in the road next to the Çakistes Restaurant, yesterday at around 4 am.
The donkey died and the driver was arrested, reports say.
HIT A DEAD DONKEY FOLLOWING ACCIDENT
In another incident on the same day, at around 4.10 am, another driver, K.O.A (M-23), while travelling to Lefkoşa, hit the same donkey lying on the road that died during the previous accident.
LEGAL ACTION HAS BEEN FILED AGAINST THE OWNER OF THE DONKEY
Legal action has been filed against the owner of the donkey R.Z (M-54) for not taking the necessary preventive measures for the animal. Police reports say that the donkey was wandering on the Gazimağusa-Lefkoşa main road and caused traffic accidents. An investigation has been launched.
