A total of 55 Cypriot citizens—50 from Israel and 5 from Iran—have requested repatriation, while three patient escorts from Israel have crossed into Jordan with the aim of returning to Cyprus on a foreign aircraft.
Greek Cypriot Foreign Ministry spokesperson Theodoros Gotsis said that currently in Israel there remain 12 patients, 11 escorts, 12 Cypriot nationals who are permanent residents of the country and have requested repatriation, as well as 15 Cypriot citizens who were in Israel for business or tourism when the attacks began.
At present, Gotsis noted, air transfers from Israel are not possible. He reminded that two patients were transported from Israel to Cyprus over the weekend, and that a total of 58 Cypriots had initially requested repatriation from Israel.
Regarding the five Cypriot citizens in Iran who have requested repatriation, he added that developments could take place within the day.
Gotsis also said that under the “Estia” coordination mechanism, Slovakia and Portugal have submitted requests for assistance, although the exact number of citizens involved is not yet known.
