The Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Leader Tufan Erhürman who was a guest on Gündem Kıbrıs Web TV answered questions regarding the list of things he will do first when appointed.
“Our number one job will be to conduct a population census. A population census and population policy are two different things. A population census needs to be conducted and then a population policy right after that” he was cited as saying.
Erhürman pointed out that even when the Euro currency is 36 TL, the economy is still shifting towards the south, and criticized those who claim to rule the country are making Turkish Cypriots spectators in their own country.
“The government has no credibility”
Talking about the Parliament, Erhürman pointed out that the laws presented by the ‘government’ are not prepared properly and noted that the laws need revision in committees.
Erhürman criticized the law regarding property sales to foreigners saying that it has no meaning, due to lack of information.
Speaking about the ‘watchdog minister’ practice in Parliament, Erhürman stated that the government lacks credibility and is spreading disrepute to the Parliament.
He also expressed his concerns over a severe loss of trust in all institutions in the country.
Emphasizing that the reputation of institutional structures within the society is simultaneously decreasing, Erhürman pointed out that the country’s situation is very dangerous.
He mentioned that even the judiciary which has the highest reputation is also losing trust.
Tufan Erhürman said that the country is becoming unrecognizable and that the current mindset needs to change.
